Residential Moving Services

Residential Moving Services

We offer residential moving services and base our estimate on the form that case managers or participants fill out to completion. We are able to offer moving services for a variety of situations.

Storage Unit – Residental Home

If your client is moving out of a storage unit into a residential home, we are happy to assist with setting them up for success in their new space. These moves  typically fall under our Mini-Move flat-rate.

Residental Home to Residental Home

We’re happy to help folks move from one location to another. We serve the greater Chicagoland area, including the city of Chicago, its surrounding suburbs (Downer’s Grove, Southshore, University Park). We assign teams based on the size of space, number of flights, and amount of belongings. A larger team may be assigned to your move in order to maintain efficiency and a fair pace for your move.

Contactless Moves

In the event that clients/participants can not be physically present for their move, we are able to offer services by virtually communicating with clients. Clients should be available to communicate during the time frame scheduled for their move. This option is in the event that there is a safety concern (but the client does not need to be present), or due to distance between starting and ending location it would make sense for the participant to remain at the ending location.

Emergency Move Services

We understand that some participants may be going through emergency situations as they navigate moving to safe spaces to live in through their programs. We know some of these emergency situations may require more communication or support throughout the move. We’ve worked with programs to develop safety planning through moves, and have worked to organize a team from our company that would be the most comprehensive team to be able to offer emergency support.

Please note, that not all Emergency Moves can be contactless. Depending on the situation, safety planning may be necessary to figure out how to ensure the safety of the client, and the AMTR team, in the event that a person who is doing harm is present during a move.

Lyft Transportation Services:

We don’t offer rides in our moving trucks with our team. However, we’re happy to manage rideshare services during the move to help ensure smooth travel between both locations. This is added to the invoice at the end of the client’s move. Often, us managing the logistics of this is easiest, as we know when we are finishing up the client’s load at the first location, best practices to time the Lyft ride with our travel time, and ensure that clients get to the second location in a reasonable time frame (versus taking public transportation).

Disassembly/Assembly

Our quotes typically include disassembly and assembly of furniture, most routinely this includes:

  • Metal bedframes
  • Kitchen Tables
  • Cribs
  • Sleeper Sofas

Please include in the notes if there is any excessive disassembly or assembly that would be required on moves, so we can properly plan and estimate for this labor. This includes:

  • Platform Beds
  • PAX Units
  • Large Entertainment Units
  • Loft or Bunk Beds

Please keep in mind, we do not offer disconnection or connection services, and we do not provide mounting services (we can help unmount). These are specialized services that we currently do not focus on training our teams to handle.

Reduced-Rate Difference in Services:

The reduced rate difference of all services provided to housing programs is technically offered as an in-kind donation. Any rate differences from A Move to Remember’s standard tariffs and the rates offered to housing programs may be documented by A Move to Remember, and its financial team (bookkeeper, accountant, etc.) Housing Programs will be notified with ample time ahead of the tax filing date of the total amount of reduced costs offered to intended recipients.

A Move to Remember asks that organizations, or entities engaging in housing program move services clarify who the best point of contact would be within their organization regarding these details.

Participants Referred by Program:

Either a representative from a program on behalf of a participant, or a client in direct communication with A Move To Remember can go through the process of gathering a quote, completing their client account, and communicating directly with AMTR.

Clients who would prefer to directly engage with AMTR, but are referred through a program to A Move to Remember, LLC will qualify for the cost of service provided to that program. Clients have the option to choose within the “How Did you Hear About Us” section of the form the program that referred them to AMTR.

If a client decides to directly communicate with AMTR, instead of a case manager communicating on behalf of the client, there may be certain situations where AMTR will rely on the program as a “” safety net”. This can include emergency situations, for the purpose of safety planning, or for confirming whether there will be a collaboration of financial resources regarding the specific client.

Mini-Moves:

For smaller moves we created a flat-rate price to accommodate moves that include a majority of the following:

AMTR’s support team will assign flat-rate for moves based on their inventory. We ask that clients complete their inventory as best as possible so we can assess the mini-move rate properly.
